Regular service
Like many other things, shoes require specialist treatment as well. Bring your shoes regularly to a cobbler to repair and renew their soles, heels and foam taps, along with providing you good advice on the subject of shoe treatment. Such service can work wonders and make you enjoy your beautiful shoes for years to come.
Extraction and suspension
While extracting your shoes, always try to extend your shoelaces as much as possible. In the process of inserting your foot into a shoe, use a shoehorn. After each usage, you should leave your shoes to rest for at least one day, if possible in a shoe tree. Shoes are a valuable product made from high quality materials and as such, demand sufficient rest and appropriate care.
Clean your smooth surfaced leather shoe first with a brush. After soaping with saddle soap, rinse with tepid water and stuff the shoes with newspaper. Never allow your shoes to dry near a heat source, otherwise the leather will brittle. Suede leather shoes can only be cleaned with a special care product. The black stripes on the sole can simply be cleaned with an eraser. Orhave your shoes cleaned by professionals.
First thing after drying from the initial cleaning, is to spray your shoes, from a distance of 15- 25 cm, with waterproofing agent, in order for the active substances to penetrate better inside the leather itself, and leave your shoes to dry again. This process should be followed by shoe polishing with the help of shoe care cream. Don’t use any kind of impregnating sprays for patent leather shoes.
For appropriate shoe care, you basically need 3 things: shoe cream, a brush and a pair of disposable nylon stockings. Start with applying the shoe cream with a brush and then gently polish the shoes with nylon stockings until they get high gloss. The friction with the delicate material generates heat, which allows the shoe cream to be evenly distributed on the surface and make it shine.

Shoe trees
Your shoes need a shoe tree. Shoe trees remove the gussets which can develop while walking and can bring your shoes back in top form. Wooden shoe trees are especially recommended because they have the ability to absorb moisture as opposed to the ordinary plastic shoe trees.
Those shoes that haven’t been worn for a longer period of time first must be thoroughly cleaned and put on a shoe tree before sending them into hibernation. Best possible scenario would be to put them in a cardboard or a shoe bag and store them in a dry place. Plastic bags on the other hand tend to generate a greenhouse climate, under whose effect shoes get mold or mildew.
